Local sports books preparing for March Madness

This week, March Madness begins and Coast casinos are prepared for all your sports betting needs.

This time last year, sports books and casinos were closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now, one year later, Gulf Coast casinos are open and preparing for March Madness sports betting. Scarlet Pearl Sports Book Supervisor Nikki McGowan said, “Happy we’re going to be able to welcome them back this year, being that we missed last year.”

The Scarlet Pearl in D’Iberville is ready for you to make your selections in a safe environment. “You’re going to have your temperature taken because we’re taking every step possible to ensure the safety of our guests. We do require masks.”

In Biloxi at the Beau Rivage, basketball fans can sit back and have some food and a cold drink while watching the action. Racing Sports Book Manager Will Hall said, “Really enjoy the ambiance and you actually do get the live participation of being part of the event. So, when the games are exciting and teams are performing, I mean people get excited and the room goes back and forth with the action shifting. It’s a great feeling and a great vibe to the whole room.”

At the Beau Rivage’s new BetMGM Sports Book this year will be the first it’s open for March Madness.

Not only will March Madness sports betting take place at BetMGM but you can also watch the games at Top Golf and enjoy yourself at Black Clover.

The college basketball tournament begins Thursday and a national champion will be crowned April 5th. “A plethora of wagers for them to bet on throughout all of the tournament and our friendly staff is here to assist.”

Casinos are preparing for crowds as some SEC fans cheer on LSU and Alabama. “That creates a nice environment for us too because those fans do turn out.”
