Local organizations team up to offer weekday meals for Gulfport youth

Community groups in Gulfport are making sure no kid goes hungry this summer.

‘Extend a Hand, Help a Friend’ has teamed up with Morning Star Baptist Church to feed people in Gulfport and the Gaston Point community.

Every weekday, volunteers help pass out hundreds of hot meals to families and they even deliver to families without transportation.

The organization also gives away around 400 gallons of milk every Tuesday. ‘Extend a Hand, Help a Friend’ CEO Jeffrey Hulum said, “Anyone in need is a person we are here to assist. A person does not have to be in need financially or economically, all they have to do is show up and we will make sure every child is fed. If we run out, we will request more meals.”

The meals are served every weekday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Morning Star Baptist Church and the Family Enrichment Center in Gulfport.

Anyone is welcome to show up and get a hot meal.
