Local firefighter in need after accident

A local hero is in need after a motorcycle accident left him in the hospital.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Mark Hilley, a Marine veteran and currently the district chief with the Gulfport Fire Department. Mark and his daughter, Natalie, were both involved in the motorcycle accident on May 3rd. Natalie was injured and released from the hospital.

Mark’s injuries were more severe and he was airlifted to Mobile where he is still in the hospital. Gulfport Fire Chief Mike Beyerstedt said, “He was a former Marine, hard charger. He’s a guy who does a lot of stuff for us here at the department. He is our dive rescue team leader as well. Him and his family are going to have some significant medical bills for this so I’m sure that would be very helpful for them.”
