Local drivers weigh-in on gas price spike

According to AAA, the nation is experiencing the highest spike in gas prices in a three year window.

So, what’s driving the cost to go up? Economists say the hike is due to the rising price of crude oil overseas. According to experts, the cost is at the highest it’s been in several months.

The price for premium gas inched over three dollars today at CJ’s Quick Stop in Pass Christian. Drivers that News 25 caught up with aren’t too happy about the price jump. Gulfport resident Terrance Williams said, “Really unfair first of all. It’s just too high and I think they do it because it is summer time and they know people are going to be traveling.”

Gulfport resident Jorge Garcia said, “If we could walk like the old days, but ain’t nobody going to walk so we just have to purchase whatever price they sell it. We ain’t got no choice.”
