Local Competes in Balloon Convention

One of Biloxi’s own will showcase her artistry in a world competition.
Krystal Guerrero isn’t just an artist, she’s a balloon artist. She’s been invited to a join a team of 14 other balloonists from the United States to compete against 10 countries to make a life sized sculpture. For now, that sculpture is a surprise.
The year, the World Balloon Convention will be in New Orleans, the closest it has ever been to the Coast. Guerrero is excited to represent South Mississippi in the competition and is glad her friends and family will be able to see her work in person. “It’s real exciting for me to invite everybody to come and see this. It’s on Sunday, April 10th. Everybody can come over to New Orleans to a make a day trip out of it and get to see all these amazing balloon sculptures that people from all over the world, including myself, helped create.”
Guerrero says her team will have a total of 72 hours to complete their sculpture. The convention will be open to the public on April 10th at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
