Local businessman Jerry Lee passes away at 88

Long-time grocery store operator Jerry Lee has died.

The 88-year-old died at his home on Monday, surrounded by family.

Lee was born in Foxworth, Mississippi and was a Marine Corps veteran, serving three years before returning home to help with the family business.

He and his wife Polly founded Jerry Lee’s grocery in 1958 on Ingalls Avenue and expanded it to own a store in Gautier in 1974 and another in Pascagoula, Publix Warehouse Foods.

His visitation will be tomorrow afternoon at 3 at First Baptist Church in Pascagoula.
