Local Businessman Donates Gifts

A Gulfport firefighter finds a way to serve his community while out of uniform. News 25’s Kendra Turley walks us through a Christmas delivery that’s sure to make you smile.
While many are busy wrapping gifts for their own family one local businessman and firefighter spent the past several weeks picking out the perfect gifts for complete strangers. Gulfport firefighter and local business owner Brandon Necaise said, “My kids get what they want. I think others that are less fortunate need to. So, each year my shops go out and adopt a family.”
He posted a Facebook status requesting anyone in need of a little extra holiday help to send him a message and share their story. “I read through a lot of them and it was very hard choosing and I wish I could do more, but we picked a family that’s got two girls and a boy,” said Necaise.
With the help of family, friends and co-workers, Brandon was able to purchase a trunkful of gifts for the whole family to enjoy.
Lakken Powell was recently injured in a car wreck and is now recovering from surgery. Brandon’s huge act of kindness not only took a load off of her shoulders, it put a huge smile on all three of her children’s faces. “We’re just very grateful and very thankful for everything Brandon and everyone else has done for us.”
Layla, Laythan, and Harleigh now have dozens of new toys to enjoy and Brandon has another reason to smile this holiday season. “I wanted to become a firefighter to actually help and lend a hand and I don’t want to just do it on the job, I feel I should need to do it off the job also.”
