Local airports receive grant funding for improvements

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith announced nine municipal airports in the state will receive grant funding.

On the Coast, the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport will receive just under $4,450,000 to acquire airfield pavement sweeper equipment, rehabilitate terminal apron and runway pavement, install a new airport rotating beacon, and more.

The airport is also receiving under $4 million to extend runway 36 and reconfigure taxiway J connectors.

In Wiggins, the Dean Griffin Memorial Airport is receiving $150,000 to support the acquisition of easement and property to protect the approach to runway 17.
