Lizana Parade Kicking Off this Weekend

The Ocean Springs Elks Mardi Gras parade rolls at one o’clock Saturday afternoon through downtown Ocean Springs. The parade draws around 10,000 people.
This weekend, the 13th annual Lizana Parade will start Sunday at 1 p.m. The parade route begins at Lizana Elementary School and heads down Cable Bridge Road to Northrup Cuevas Road then up Moran Road and eventually ending back at Lizana Elementary School. The parade will feature floats, ATV vehicles and even horses.
Parade organizers tell News 25 that over the past 13 years the parade has come quite a long way and they’re excited to see the turnout this year. “Through the years, we’ve come a long ways, we started out very small and I’d say we’re medium now and hoping to grow even bigger. It’s a nice parade and we hope to see a lot of people join us,” said organizer Floyd Babin. Organizer Angel Middleton said, “We have floats and ATVs and lots of horses, more than you see in other parades. It’s just a great family event. The families are all on the side of the road with their tents, barbecue grills and all that but it’s a long route. There’s plenty of parking and plenty of places to view the parade and catch a lot of beads.”
It is free to enter the parade. If you’re interested in participating, you can call 228-832-6870.
