Lizana Forest Fire Reignites, Causes Shutdown of Roads
The fire was located between Lizana-Saucier Road and Herman-Ladner Road in north Harrison County. The fire initially started on Saturday after a yard fire got out of control and spread to the surrounding areas. Monday night, Harrison County officials had to shut down nearby roads because of low visibility due to smoke and fog.
Pat Sullivan, Harrison County Fire Marshal, says, "They think they have it contained in the section of woods that it’s in now. They don’t believe that it will get outside of that, but we’re watching it closely and once again, we’re concerned about the smoke and fog conditions so we’re just asking everyone to use caution."
Again, if you are traveling to the Lizana area, please use caution. Road visibility may be limited.
