Legislative Committee studying possibility of lowering property taxes, car tag costs in Mississippi

A legislative select committee in the Mississippi House is studying the possibility of reducing the cost of property taxes and car tags in our state.

In Mississippi, counties, cities, and school districts collect $1.2 billion in homestead property taxes.

The House is looking at ways to reduce the burden of taxes and car tag fees.

WXXV’s Dave Elliott talked to Committee Member State Representative Zachary Grady from Biloxi about the effort.
