Leadership Gulf Coast Alumni Affair

From politicians to doctors, Leadership Gulf Coast alumni are a true who’s who of our community.
Today, hundreds of their alumni gathered at the IP for an alumni affair. In 1988, plans for the first Leadership Gulf Coast class started to come together and the ’90-’91 class boasts itself as the first ever graduating class of the program.
Since then, more than 950 leaders have gone through the program to lead our Coast into the future.
The keynote speaker for today’s event was Gulfport Chief Administrative Officer Dr. John Kelly. He tells News 25 he wanted to make sure these leaders know they can’t do it all by themselves. “I talk about the genius with a thousand helpers and how that just doesn’t work. The genius needs other geniuses around them. If you’re going to run a great organization, you’re going to have to bring in people that are race horses and are willing to get the job done and put their head down and do the hard work.”
