Lawsuit filed after boating accident that severely burned and injured John Harrison Doucet

A lawsuit filed in Harrison County is now placing the blame on Mississippi Power and the Gulfport Yacht Club for injuries sustained to the 20-year-old who was severely burned during a boating accident in September.
In the lawsuit filed today in Harrison County Circuit Court, attorney Joe Sam Owen is asking for damages from Mississippi Power and the yacht club to compensate John Harrison Doucet for his injuries and any future medical expenses.
John Harrison suffered third and fourth degree burns on 85 percent of his body and had both legs and one arm amputated. The lawsuit says he will require care for the rest of his life.
It also says it was the power company’s failure to place power lines far enough away from the sailboat rigging area that resulted in his sailboat to come in contact with the power line.
