Latest Update On Infrastructure Project
The final destination for the big infrastructure project going on in the east side of town. Permanent paving has been planned for Back Bay Boulevard, from Oak Street all the way along the bay. Crawford Street will also be permanently paved this week. City officials say these areas have been paved before but the work was temporary. They tell News 25 the infrastructure project is one of the biggest projects the city of Biloxi has ever taken on. Vincent Creel tells News 25, “This is the oldest part of the city. It has the oldest infrastructure of anywhere in the city. This work is something that has been long over do. But hurricane Katrina presented us with an opportunity to redo all of the storm damaged infrastructure.” The contractor had to replace water lines, sewer lines, utility lines, and storm drains. Officials say next month, they will begin paving on Seal Avenue.
