Labor Day on the Coast

In honor of the federal holiday that is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, many spend Labor Day relaxing and that includes Coast residents.

Because the holiday is always held on the first Monday of September, Labor Day is often associated with the unofficial end of summer, making the beach a popular destination for the holiday.

The Kanapper family and relatives traveled from New Orleans to Gulfport to celebrate their Labor Day on the beautiful beaches of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, something they’ve been doing all summer.  Damonta Kanapper said, “I’m having a great day on the beach with my family having a great Labor Day.”

Damonica Kanapper said, “Our usual traditions, my mom, she cooks a lot of food and invite family members over.”
