Krewe Unique rolls through Downtown Ocean Springs
Following up behind the Elks Parade was the long-awaited Krewe Unique parade, rolling through Ocean Springs at 1:30 Saturday.
Like other parades, Krewe Unique had to sit 2021 out because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Marching bands from Greenville, Heidelberg, and Hattiesburg performed. The show also featured the sounds of Motown from Alcorn State’s marching band.
Krewe Unique followed the usual parade route down Front Beach to Government Street.
News 25 caught up with Grand Marshal Keith Thurmon just before floats began to roll. “It’s good for everybody, with the pandemic going on, everybody needs to get out, everybody needs a breath of fresh air. As long as we’re all together, everybody’s together as one, things are going to work out for the good. Well, it’s, I never thought I’d be the Grand Marshal, it’s elating. All the stuff I’ve been involved with, helping them, and they did for me to help out to be the Grand Marshal, I’m elated. I really am.”
Also this weekend was the Krewe of Kids Parade in Bay St. Louis and the Pass Christian Carnival Association Parade.
