Krewe of Gemini Night Parade rolls through Gulfport

The Krewe of Gemini has been rolling through the Coast since 1969 and tonight was no different.

News 25’s Meggan Gray led the parade as grand marshal followed by the 53rd reigning king and queen, Michael and Sandie Schlett.

Parading through downtown Gulfport, the parade stopped at city hall where Mayor Billy Hewes made a toast to the krewe’s royalty.

Along the parade route, crowds lined the streets, excited to have their annual Mardi Gras parade return. “We put on two parades in Gulfport. We put on the Saturday parade and the Tuesday night Fat Tuesday parade. I think it means a lot to the residents of Gulfport. After everything we’ve been through with the pandemic, especially we have seen crowds Saturday that were great. It looks like they’re forming again tonight. So, we’re just here to have fun and just lift the spirits of everybody.”

This year’s parade theme was ‘band of traveling gypsies,’ named after the king and queen’s children who traveled from all over the country to be a part of the krewe court.
