Krewe of Neptune prepares for 2017 ball
Tonight in Biloxi, the Krewe of Neptune is putting together the final touches for their annual ball.
In 1982, the Krewe of Neptune held their first inaugural ball. The krewe’s first parade was held on Mardi Gras day in 1983 on the streets of downtown Biloxi.
Now people line the streets to catch the krewe in action each carnival season and their ball has become one of the biggest events of the carnival season.
The current president of the Krewe of Neptune, Gerald Everette, tells News 25 that a lot of work goes into making the event happen each year, but that’s part of what makes Mardi Gras so special. “It’s a lot of lack of sleep to begin with. You stay tired, but you enjoy it. Everything is worth it at the end. You know when you hit that corner, the first, at the beginning of the parade route and you start off and you see all the faces and you see the excitement, it’s big and you have a great time.”
The Krewe of Neptune annual parade will kick off at 5:30 on February 25th. You can catch all the action on WXXV 25 as we broadcast live from downtown Biloxi.
