Krewe of Gemini celebrates 50 years

Over the weekend, the Krewe of Gemini celebrated their 50th carnival season in Gulfport.

News 25’s Gabby Easterwood was a judge for the occasion, judging the many different homemade floats in the parade.

There was a new route this year, starting on 19th Street and then heading south down 25th Street through downtown Gulfport.

Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes was on-hand for the parade, saying that you can’t have Mardi Gras in Gulfport without the Krewe of Gemini. “It’s just another great Mardi Gras weekend. It’s very meaningful to the City of Gulfport to have this krewe based right here. To come back time and again, a lot of participation, you know, what’s not to like?”

The Krewe of Gemini rolls again on the same route on Mardi Gras Day.
