Krewe of Diamondhead Mardi Gras Parade

It was a big weekend for the City of Diamondhead who hosted their annual Mardi Gras parade.

The parade featured 15 floats, golf carts, and marching groups. The parade is one of the biggest events in Diamondhead and the city has been preparing for months.

State Senator Philip Moran was named grand marshal of this year’s parade. He tells News 25 that he was incredibly excited to be able to ride. “I was on my way to Jackson and I got a phone call that said ‘would you like to be grand marshal?” and I said absolutely. You don’t pass up an opportunity like this. This is a tremendous family parade. You see more kids at this parade than anywhere else. It’s a good time to be here today and a great honor to be grand marshal of the Diamondhead Parade.”

Parade officials say this was one of their largest crowds in the krewe’s history.
