Krewe of CRC Mardi Gras Parade

Patients at the Singing River Health System in Pascagoula had their chance today to take part in the Mardi Gras festivities.

The hospital’s lobby was transformed into a parade route for patients of the system and comprehensive rehab center and skilled nursing facility as they handed out colorful throws to members of the public, children, and even therapy dogs.

Wendie Hawkins with the Comprehensive Rehab Center says this parade holds so much meaning for the patients. “It’s a great time had by all. Our patients have been in the hospital quite a while so they get a little depressed or non-interactive. After this their therapy takes off, they interact more. They’re smiling more. They’re more engaged and they participate more with therapy and they have greater outcomes.”

The parade is an annual tradition for the Singing River Health System during carnival system.
