Kim Savant Sentenced to Five Years

Former Harrison County Supervisor Kim Savant will spend five years in prison and pay a $20,000 fine for his role in the Harrison County Utility Authority scandal.
Savant pled guilty in December to bribery charges. He admitted that between January 2011 and January 2013, while he was a member of the utility authority, he conspired with the owner of a company and accepted $1,500 payments each month in exchange for work contracts.
Former federal prosecutor Mike Hurst, who helped prosecute this case, tells News 25 this is a good day for South Mississippi.
The judge imposed the maximum sentence for conspiracy.
