Kim Savant Seeks Early Release

Former Harrison County Supervisor Kim Savant, serving five years for bribery, is asking President Barack Obama to let him out of prison. This according to e-mails Savant shared with the Sun Herald. Savant pleaded guilty without indictment to taking $1,500 a month from contractor Sean Anthony while serving on the county’s utility authority. Savant’s application for release cites the 60-year-old’s age and health problems. The president has commuted hundreds of federal sentences this year, those for mostly drug crimes.
In an e-mail to the Sun Herald, Savant said he feels nobody is speaking for the “white-collar crowd.”
