Ken Combs Pier Officially Opened

Good news for fishermen and Gulfport residents, the Ken Combs Pier off Courthouse Road is officially open for public use.
The heavily used pier was out of commission for quite a while as the city repaired damages sustained from Hurricane Isaac back in 2012. Ken Combs was one of five piers being fixed along the Gulfport coast; the others were completed in July.
City officials say they are excited to have all piers open again, something residents have been eagerly awaiting. Gulfport Public Information Officer Chris Vignes said, “We’re glad to have this process finished, at this point to have all piers open. It’s been something that the public’s wanted, the people call to tell us what they want and the piers have been on the top of the list. And now we have all five open. So, they can go out there and use them recreationally, they can use them for leisure, they can go out with their families. It’s a great place to go out and enjoy.”
The city invites the public to an official ribbon cutting on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Ken Combs Pier.
