Kemper County Power Plant Delay Mississippi Power
Mississippi Power adds another month before its Kemper County Power Plant will open and an additional 38 million dollars.
The plant is now expected to be operational with lignite coal by the end of May.
Mississippi Power spokesman Jeff Sheperd tells News 25 the delay is primarily related to repairs and adjustments associated with a particulate control device as well as the sour water and ash removal systems.
Mississippi Power said the additional cost will not be paid by customers.
The total cost of the facility now tops seven billion dollars.
