Kelvin Bolden: Player and Coach

One of the participants at Legarrette Blount’s football camp over the weekend is a South Mississippi football guy through and through. Kelvin Bolden says the sport is still a big part of his life, even six years removed from his college days.
A 2011 graduate of Southern Miss, Bolden is now 28-years-old and serves as the wide receivers coach at Pearl River Community College. He’s no stranger to the JUCO circuit, having played two years at Mississippi Gulf Coast after starring at wideout for Ocean Springs High School.
On Saturday, News 25 caught up with Bolden about what keeps him coming back to the game he loves as a player and coach. “It’s always fun to have to dealing with football, from coaching, from playing, to coming out here to playing, it’s always staying active. You want to stay active and this is what we came to do. We wanted to come out here to be active and have fun. I don’t know. I’m just out here to have fun. (Just so you don’t get fined?) I’m just here so I won’t get fined, I guess. ”
Bolden led USM in receiving during his two years in Hattiesburg with nearly 1400 yards and 13 touchdowns. He says he’s looking forward to seeing what his alma mater can do in year two of the Jay Hopson era.
