Keesler Medical Center’s Fourth Annual Mammothon

Keesler’s usual red, white and blue colors turned into bright pink today for the fourth annual Mammothon.
Tricare beneficiaries were eligible for walk-in mammograms as well as flu shots, blood pressure checks, and other cancer screenings.
Officials working the event say it’s a one stop shop for all medical health care concerns.
MRI Manager and breast cancer survivor Ladean Hoehn said, “Forty is the age that you should start getting checked but you should do it as early as you can. Start with self-breast exams because personally I am a survivor and I did my breast exams and I was 30 years old when I was diagnosed. I’m an 11 year survivor.”
Mammothon partnered with Keesler’s Retiree Appreciation Day, an annual event to honor veterans and retirees of Keesler Air Force Base. They offered shuttles between the two events so the retirees had the opportunity to receive the health screenings.
