Keesler Airmen Deployed for Training, Then Southeast Asia

About 30 reservists with the 403rd Security Forces at Keesler Air Force Base deployed Friday from the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport. The squadron will first head to Creech Air Force Base in Nevada for combat and skills training before being deployed to southwest Asia for six months.

The young airmen will learn advanced weapon training, on-base defensive tactics, and how to operate convoys before their mission. The men and women in the squadron say they’re nervous, but are ready to take on this task together.

Sr. Airman Charelle Chapobianco, 403rd Wing Squadron, says, “I am a little nervous, but I am ready. I’m ready for it just because it is my first deployment.”

Sr. Airman Christopher Cabibi, 403rd Wing Squadron, says, “This training in Nevada, now we’ll get to know each other a little better.”

Higher ranked reservists deployed on the same mission earlier this week.
