Kansas zoo welcomes baby giraffe

The latest addition to a Kansas zoo is having some bonding time with mom.

Lee Richardson Zoo in Garden City announced the birth of a baby giraffe on Friday.

The zoo said on Facebook that the newborn is the second calf for Cleo and Juani.

The baby was up on its feet less than an hour after being born.

Cleo and her newborn will be kept inside for a few days to bond. But Juani, the dad, will be kept apart from them until the baby is a bit older and steadier on its feet.

The little giraffe is expected to be named sometime this week.
