K-9 Unit Featured at Infinity’s ‘Wear it Wednesday’ Event

Today, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit showed off their four legged friends at Infinity’s ‘Wear it Wednesdays’. It was all part of Infinity’s Science Center’s ‘Suited to the Extreme’ exhibit.
Deputies brought a couple of their dogs to demonstrate to kids how important their four legged friends are to their work. They even showed off one K-9’s ability to sniff out drugs.
The thick suits they use to train their dogs when dealing with an unruly suspect was another crowd pleaser at today’s event.
Tricia Machado, Director of Guest Relations at Infinity Science Center, said, “It’s just a great experience for children of any age. We’ve had families of five, families of seven, we’ve had group shots. And we have something called ‘Wear it Wednesdays’ where guests can come out and try on a suit and take a photo depending on what we’re highlight that week. So we’ve highlighted racecar drivers, we’ve highlighted the SWAT team. Also, the K-9, which was featured today. It’s important for workers to wear the proper suit for their extreme jobs. Suits are not easy to wear because they weigh a lot, and you have to wear them in extreme environments."
Next week will be Infinity’s last ‘Wear it Wednesday’ and they will be highlighting the special equipment used to keep football players safe.
