Jury deadlocked in Biloxi murder trial

A mistrial was declared in the trial of Orlando Newell. He was indicted for the killing of Michael Anthony Woods in September 2016.

The jury was deadlocked at 11-1 for a conviction of first degree murder. Testimony in the case showed Woods was shot five times including four shots to the back.

Numerous 911 calls from the apartment complex alleged that a car associated with the defendant was seen driving away from the scene. The murder weapon was recovered from a trash can.
