Junior Auxiliary of Gulfport Shoe Drive

If you are a Chick-fil-A fan and also enjoy giving to a good cause then you are in luck. The Junior Auxiliary of Gulfport has partnered with the restaurant for a shoe drive benefiting the Harrison County Youth Shelter.
“It’s really humbling to see how something so small can make such a huge impact on someone else.” For the second year in a row, the Junior Auxiliary has partnered with Chick-fil-A to help out the Harrison County Youth Shelter. This year they are collecting new shoes for youth ages 18 and under at the Gulfport and Chick-fil-A locations. Junior Auxiliary of Gulfport President Kimberly Rasmussen said, “To someone that’s taken to the shelter, often times in the middle of the night or middle of the day, with nothing more than what they have on their back, to be able to be greeted with a brand new pair of anything, is really a true gift.”
Donating a pair of shoes doesn’t only mean you are donating to a good cause, it’ll also score you a free Chick-fil-A entrée. Chick-fil-A Marketing Director Whitney Ott said, “It really makes me feel good. You know, I love the company that I work for and what we stand for. We really are a community-based restaurant so to know that Chick-fil-A is able to give a little percentage back to these children is really humbling for us.”
Chick-fil-A will be granting a gift card with the value of an entrée for every pair of shoes donated. Donations can be made through March 2nd. Ocean Springs resident Rebekah Linton said, “I think it’s important to give back and give them at least one thing they don’t have to worry about.”
