Judge Margaret Alfonso sworn-in
Back in late November, Judge Margaret Alfonso won the runoff election for chancery court judge serving Harrison, Stone, and Hancock counties.
Today, at the Gulfport Courthouse, friends and family gathered as Judge Alfonso was sworn into her new chancery court position. This wasn’t a normal swearing-in ceremony either.
Multiple colleagues of Judge Alfonso talked about their excitement for her and what compassion and kindness she will bring to it. There was a packed house to hear these remarks and watch as Judge Alfonso took her oath to the community.
Before running for chancery court, Judge Alfonso served as youth court judge for Harrison County. “One of the main reasons I ran is to bring CASA, which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates, to chancery court. I learned about it at youth court and I ran for chancery to bring some of the things I learned at youth court back to chancery court. My ultimate goal is to do the best job that I possibly can for the children and families of Hancock, Harrison and Stone counties.”
While giving her remarks after being sworn in, she thanked everyone who voted for her and all those who supported her throughout this whole process.
