Judge dismisses claims against Moss Point Mayor Mario King

Federal claims against Moss Point Mayor Mario King have been dismissed after an attorney for Alderman Ennit Morris filed a tort claim in December, claiming Mayor King verbally assaulted and threatened him.

Judge Ozerden dismissed every federal claim by Morris.

In a document released to News 25, the court ruled in the mayor and city’s favor and dismissed all claims for alleged violation of constitutional rights as well as claims against the mayor in his individual capacity, all first amendment freedom of speech claims, the freedom of assembly claim, and the fourth amendment excessive force claim.

The court stated the remaining issues are purely ones of state law which are better addressed by the Mississippi State Court.

The court declined to exercise supplemental jurisdiction and remanded these cases back to the circuit court of Jackson County.
