Jonathan Holder honored at Gulfport

After getting a taste of the Big Leagues with the New York Yankees in 2016, Jonathan Holder really dug in this season, almost logging five times as many innings in his true rookie campaign.
Gulfport High School couldn’t be happier to welcome back one of its own, especially after New York’s run at the World Series. The Yankees finished one win away from returning to the Fall Classic, eventually losing out to the Houston Astros in game seven of the ALCS.
Now Holder was never actually on the post-season roster, but what a ride it was for the former Admiral and Mississippi State Bulldog who was recognized in between the first and second quarters at tonight’s football game versus Ocean Springs. “Yeah, it brings back a lot of memories. I spent a lot of games sitting up in the student section over here and cheering on the Admirals, so it’s been fun, it’s been a good ride and I appreciate everybody from Gulfport that came out to support me. New York is a crazy place and when you make the playoffs it’s even crazier, and they’ve got true diehard fans and they love their city and they’re proud of it and we are too. Still kind of pinch myself sometimes, but hopefully there’s plenty more to come,” said Holder.
