South Mississippi Regional Center hosting Job Fair Tuesday in Gulfport
COVID has forced a number of South Mississippi businesses to shut down and rendered some people in our area jobless.
If you’re looking for a job and enjoy serving the needs of others, you may want to check out a job fair in Gulfport tomorrow as South Mississippi Regional Center seeks to hire dozens of people.
South Mississippi Regional Center is looking to recruit a few good men and women to help with their decades-long mission. Community Relations Coordinator Denise Christmas-Wallace said, “We are a program that provides services to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We’ve been in service, or I should say, providing services to those for over 40 years.”
South Mississippi Regional Center’s services span not only decades, but also distance and they’re looking to add dozens of employees to their payroll through a Tuesday job fair.
Human Resources Director Velecia Sims said, “Our main campus is in Long Beach, but we also have four community programs-one in Wiggins, Gautier, Biloxi and Poplarville, so if anyone out there is interested in employment in those areas, you are welcome to come to our job fair as well. We are looking for all types of positions-direct care workers, nurses, especially. We have state positions as well as contract positions. The wonderful thing about us here at South Mississippi Regional Center – we do all of our training on campus.”
There will be plenty of opportunities at the Win Job Center in Gulfport off Seaway Road. Just be sure to bring your resume. “Not only are we going to be accepting applications, we’re going to do on-site interviews, especially for the direct care workers. You will also be set up to come to our main campus in Long Beach, to complete your testing if you’re truly interested in being a part of the SMRC family. All you need to bring with you is your original high school diploma, or official college or high school transcript.”
The job fair is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Win Job Center, located on Southpark Drive off Industrial Seaway in Gulfport.
