Jeff Davis Elementary Veterans Day Program

Jeff Davis Elementary School stands near Keesler Air Force Base. Today, they pulled out all the stops to honor their veterans.
Students from Jeff Davis sang, danced and marched the day away, honoring those men and women who have served and are serving in our armed forces. The school has the highest percentage of military families in the state, which means this event is always well attended.
With the personal connection to the armed forces, Wednesday’s program is especially important to the students who participate.
Fifth grader Michael McClellan said, “Really important because basically the whole side of my dad’s family has been in the military.”
Fifth grader David Solomon said, “It’s important because the veteran’s come out and it’s kind of a free day for them so they can see a program and have a fun time.”
Keesler 81st Training Wing Commander Colonel Michele Edmondson said, “Living in Biloxi and the Gulf Coast community, we always feel welcome. But really, I have never seen a Veterans Day show like this since my kids have been going to school. It’s the best one I’ve ever seen and it just humbles us and honors us and it’s just more than we could ever imagine.”
Jefferson Davis Elementary School officials say today’s crowd was the biggest ever since they started having the event.
