Jay Ladner wins Southern Miss coaching debut

“We’re in this to win it. We’re in this to win it. We’re not in it to have winning seasons. We’re in it to win it. We’re in it to win conference championships. We’re in it to go to the NCAA Tournament. We’re in it to win the NCAA Tournament. That’s what we’re in it for.”

As a player on the 1987 NIT Championship team at Southern Miss and the head coach of the 2014 NJCAA Tournament championship team at Jones County Junior College, Jay Ladner is the only common denominator between the only two national titles in the history of college basketball in Mississippi.

Not to mention Ladner capped off his 20 year run at St. Stanislaus with a 4A State crown back in 2011.

So when the man says he wants to bring the same success back to his alma mater, what choice do we have but to believe him?

Ladner making his regular season debut as head coach of the Golden Eagles, hosting Delta State at Reed Green Coliseum and taking over the program fresh off its first 20 win season since 2014.

Southern Miss leads this one wire-to-wire, 90-71 final, giving Coach Ladner his first win at USM.
