MAN FOUND GUILTY IN CAPITAL MURDER

A man has been sentenced to life behind bars – without the possibility of parole for killing Donta Banks in March of 2016.
Thirty-seven year old Hubert Anderson was found guilty of capital murder by a jury following four days of deliberation. Evidence from the scene of the crime showed that Banks was a friend of Andersons. After a day of using drugs and going to local casinos, Anderson, Rita Johnston, and Banks went to a remote area of Saint Andrew’s community. That’s where Johnston says Anderson shot Banks in the back of the head.
After the shooting, Anderson took money from the victim’s pockets and went to Wiggins. Police took Anderson and Johnston into custody in Harrison County after a brief police chase. Johnston pled guilty to charges in connection to the shooting. Anderson has at least four previous felony convictions and will be in prison for the rest of his life.
