Jackson County superintendent visits elementary schools dressed as elf

Steve the Elf and Mrs. Claus were very busy today handing out treats to students in the Jackson County School District.

Superintendent Dr. John Strycker and his wife Debra made their way to elementary schools across the district to spread holiday cheer in their Christmas-themed costumes.

Strycker says he’s adopted the ‘Steve the Elf’ disguise to keep kids guessing and provide some fun for them before they begin the Christmas break.

News 25 caught up with Steve and Mrs. Claus at St. Martin North Elementary School where they say it is important to recognize these hardworking students. “Especially this year, you know, we really needed to get out into the classroom and make sure that kids are getting into the full season of it, and so it was important to me to visit every lower elementary classroom.”

Strycker says he plans on dressing up for each Christmas season in the years to come.
