Jackson County sheriff warns of phone scam sending distributing images

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is warning citizens of a disturbing phone scam that’s happened to at least two people recently.

Sheriff Mike Ezell says they’ve received text messages containing pictures of dismembered people.

The pictures are sent with the threat saying ‘you’re next’ and also demands a payment of $5,900.

The caller claims to be the head of a criminal organization named the ‘Squadron R8 Cartel De Sinola.’ The caller knew the names and addresses of the victims.

Please be aware this is a scam and do not answer the text in an attempt to send money. Sheriff Ezell advises everyone to block the number if you receive such a message.
