Jackson County School District appoints new superintendent

The Jackson County School Board is welcoming a new superintendent.

John Strycker was unanimously appointed by all four board members at tonight’s meeting. This is the first year school boards in Mississippi have had to appoint a superintendent rather than put it to a vote by the general public.

Strycker is currently the superintendent of schools in Butler County, Alabama and a former superintendent in Michigan.

The new position takes effect January 1st, 2020.
