Jackson County road improvements

Jackson County officials reveal potential improvements for the 4.4 mile stretch of Ocean Springs road between Highway 90 and Highway 57.
Officials started an enhancement study a few months back to analyze the existing roadway conditions on the popular cut through street. Residents had the opportunity to view future plans for the roadway during a public meeting at the Ocean Springs Civic Center this evening.
Proposed ideas include adding a median and turn lanes at major intersections and subdivision entrances. Ocean Springs Alderman John Gill said, “For years it’s been an unsafe road. This is like a dream come true for all residents that live on Ocean Springs Road. It’s a narrow two lane road and they’re going to make it out of a three lane road with a walking path and a jogging path.”
This was the last of the two meetings Jackson County officials scheduled for public input.
