Jackson County receives scannable ballots

The Jackson County Circuit Clerk’s Office received scannable ballots earlier today from the election commission after it was brought to light that they were not able to show the picture of the proposed new state flag on absentee ballots.

Circuit Clerk Randy Carney printed and posted a photo of the proposed flag in each of the 12 available booths for absentee voting.

Carney explained that they had to post the photo in the booths and then explain the situation clearly to each absentee voter to ensure they knew what flag they were voting for.

However, Carney said that they have finally received the scannable ballots that feature the flag so they no longer will have to have the printed version in the booths.
