Jackson County man to serve 30 years for sexual assault of minor

A Jackson County man will serve 30 years day-for-day for the sexual assault of a girl waiting for the school bus.

37-year-old Jimmy David Williams was found guilty after a two-day trial of assaulting a 15-year-old girl on her way to Moss Point High School.

The assault happened in March 2018. The victim was waiting for her bus when Williams forced her into his car at gunpoint and assaulted her before dropping her off near the school.

When she got to campus, the victim told her NJROTC instructors what happened. Moss Point Police investigated the case.

“It takes extraordinary courage to walk into a courtroom of strangers and talk about the most vulnerable and traumatic events of your life,” said District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath.  “Despite facing overwhelming adversity, this victim told of her sexual assault and took her power back. My team and I are proud to fight for and stand with this victim.”
