Jackson County fire crews fighting wildfire in Latimer area
Jackson County firefighters are working to provide structural protection to homes in the area of Pine Avenue and Shady Pine Drive in the Latimer area due to a wildfire.
The Mississippi Forestry Commission and MS Sandhill Crane Wildlife Refuge have bulldozers on the ground plowing containment lines.
Please use caution in the area as units are still on scene attempting to control the fire. The fire was reported around 3:40 this afternoon.
Five structures are currently being protected by our personnel.
