State Department of Education releases 2025-26 academic assessment program scores

Mississippi’s Academic Assessment scores for the last school year showed mixed results, with science scores showing the biggest gains.

Sixty-four percent of students scored proficient or advanced in science, up more than three points from last year.

English scores remained steady at about 48 percent, while math proficiency slipped slightly to about 54 percent.

Locally, Bay-Waveland and Ocean Springs were among just four districts statewide to rank in the top ten in all three subjects measured.

These results will help determine school and district accountability grades which are set to be released October 15.
