Jackson County discusses successes and future endeavors at State of the Economy Address
Jackson County held its third annual State of the Economy Address this morning.
Attendees at the event discussed the movements made in both economy development and community development across the county as well as the plans for moving forward into the next year.
One major topic discussed at the event was the expansion and revitalization of the county.
Ocean Springs Mayor Kenny Holloway says he is working on putting together a redevelopment authority which he is hoping to get funded soon.
One major highlight for Gautier this past year was the purchase of the Singing River Mall property.
Now, the county is focusing on workforce development challenges moving forward in 2022. Jackson County Chamber of Commerce President/ CEO Paige Roberts said, “We are really taking on this challenge head on. We’re going to prevail in looking at the training systems, the delivery systems and what we need to do to maintain our competitive edge.”
In the past couple of years, Jackson County has seen the number of jobs increase. Right now, there are over 5,000 new jobs open in the process of being filled in Jackson County.
