Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Membership Meeting

The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce hosted its 92nd annual ‘Chamber Membership Meeting’ today.

Health, mental health, and revitalizing downtown areas were the hot topics at this year’s meeting. Chamber President Paige Roberts says the chamber will be very advocacy driven and focus on meeting the needs of small businesses this year.

To give back to small business owners, the Chamber of Commerce teamed up with Singing River Health System to provide free health screenings on November 8th at the Chamber of Commerce from 7 to 11 a.m. “We have a small business owner, a woman in her early 40s who suffered a stroke a couple of months ago. She was just busy being a mom, a wife, and a business owner and just hadn’t made time for herself and her own health care. So, we took that as a reminder that the small businesses don’t have the benefit of a big corporation giving them health screenings regularly.”

Also at today’s meeting, the 2018-2019 chair passed the gavel to this year’s new chair Clayton Legear.
