Jackson County Adult Detention Center

After a year and a half of construction, Jackson County is set to open its new adult detention center today. Construction on the $27.6 million, 104,000 square foot facility began in February 2014.
The new jail has room to house up to 750 inmates and the ability to expand if needed. A ribbon cutting will be held at 10:08 a.m. and the facility will be open to the public until 3 p.m.
A few weeks ago, the Jackson County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to name the new adult detention center after Deputy Bruce Evans, who was killed 15 years ago. He is the only Jackson County deputy known to have been killed in the line of duty.
